I brought this along with the cabriofix.
pros: can be used with isofix or the seatbelt. great if you might be using it more than one car. the cabriofix chair clips on and off easily. is quite easy to fit once you have done it the first time and most people will just be leaving it in there. easy to remove base from car (as long as you can push the main button in ok)
cons: if you will be moving it from one car to another it is very heavy. when the cabriofix chair is clipped in correctly it does have quite a bit of wobble room within the base. i would have expected not to be able to make it shake. that said you can easily move infant seats when they are only strapped in with a seatbelt!
if you have long nails or problems with your hands you will have trouble pushing in the main button to fix this in as its quite difficult!
i still feel a little unsure about the leg that goes to the floor. all the indicators are green which means i have fitted it correctly but i can move the leg which i find strange.
INSTRUCTIONS: are ok except the first part where it indicates that you should clip the isofix guides onto the isofix bars of the car. not true! simply use them to part the fabric on your car seat so that you can see the isofix bars.

This base makes it quick and easy to secure your baby in the car seat into your car. This is not an essential piece of baby kit as you can secure the car seat with seatbelts but this takes time and can be fiddly especially when some seatbelts seem too short to reach around the car seat easily. This product takes all the stress out of transferring your baby in and out the car and also means you can attach and detach your baby more smoothly without waking them if asleep. The car seat slots into the base easily and a coloured indicator turns from red to green when the car seat is fixed securely (on some occasions when the indicator is green a little bit of red is still visible but still means the car seat is secured). You pull a grey area outwards away from the seat back to release the car seat. It is not difficult to attach the base to your car's isofix points. Expensive but well worth the money as will be used often, saves you time and hassle and gives you peace of mind.
Convenient base to go with the MaxiCosi Cabriofix car seat. March 11, 2010

We are expecting our first child and bought this base to go with the MaxiCosi Cabriofix car seat so that my wife can easily get the car seat in and out of car easily without having to fumble around with seat belts everytime.
The base itself attaches to our 2009 Toyota Yaris using the builtin IsoFix system quite simple (no need for seat belts) - the only difficulty in fitting the base to the car was that I had to push down the rear of the back seat cushion to expose the IsoFix latches before the base can be locked into place. But hey, this just needs to be done once.
The car seat then goes on top of the base and locks into place with a satisfying click. The only difficulty my wife had was releasing the car seat from the base - this involves pressing a latch under the silver handle in front of the base and simultaneously pulling away from the base - this involves a bit of finger strength.
All in all, I would still consider this a 5 star product.

This is a bit tricky to install initially and I've heard that the Maxi-Cosi website is not great for telling you if your car will work with it. However, as a rule of thumb if your car has isofix fittings it should be fine. Once you've wrestled the isofix locators into place life gets easier and the unit itself has indicators to say it is fitted correctly.
Once you have it fitted to the car it is great. No more messing around with the seatbelts and after a bit of initial stiffness it is really easy to get in and out. It saves my wife loads of time and makes the trauma of going out with the little one that bit more bearable.
FYI my daughter is only 2 months old but friends of ours are still using a cabriofix with a 10 month old so don't believe all the age estimates.
In my opinion this is an expensive but incredibly useful device, as well as improving the safety of our daughter, so I guess that is priceless.

A must have for anyone with the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix carseat. Makes putting baby in and out of the car an absolute dream, especially when the weather is awful, simply click it in, make sure green light on and away you go!!
